Getting Connected to the NBN
Getting connected to the NBN is easy and we highly recommend that you have the connection done during the initial rollout rather than postponing. Being connected will not mean you need to change your existing service provider, it does not mean signing up for a new service nor does it mean you are entering into long term contracts, but it does ensure you are ready when you decide to take up the service. NBN Co has indicated that installation is FREE at the time of initial rollout (for standard installs).
Getting connected via Satellite
For those people who already rely on Satellite Technology to power their broadband and are connected through the Australian Broadband Guarantee scheme (which ends as of 31 May 2011), the NBN Co Interim Satellite service was created to help people make the transition to the long-term NBN Co satellite service. New HarbourSat Satellite subscribers from July 1 2011 will instantly be enrolled into the NBN Co Interim Satellite Service.
The NBN Co plans to offer a wholesale Interim Satellite Service capable of peak download speeds up to 6Mbps, which is a considerable improvement on typical services currently in the market. More detailed eligibility criteria, and how to qualify for a service, will be available from the NBN Co website in the near future.
